Changing Major

If you are a junior transfer student reconsidering your major, please contact us as soon as possible.

Before you meet with us, we might ask that you take a major/career assessment based on your strengths, interests, and values, like the Career Center's online FOCUS program, to confirm your inclinations or give you a new direction.

Once you've begun the assessment process, you can meet with a Porter College or Career Center adviser to explore how the results will translate to a major at UCSC.

• How to qualify for the major
• How to declare the major
• How to complete the degree requirements for your major

We understand it's a challenging process, but no more so than completing a degree you are no longer interested in! We will do everything we can within university policy to support you in pursuing your academic goals.
