Fall Orientation Checklist for Transfers

• Attend the mandatory College Academic Orientation. (Students who are unable to attend on Sunday due to their observance of a religious holiday should contact a Porter adviser.
• Review Porter College's Welcome Week Schedule for important Porter activities.
• Review university's Welcome Week Agenda for important campus-wide activities.
• Confirm all your class enrollments in your Student Center.
• Major orientations: Scheduled on Tuesday, September 25 (Refer to http://registrar.ucsc.edu/soc/fall2012/orientations.html - orientations for location and time.
• Transcripts: Make sure all transcripts are in at the Office of Admissions. The deadline was July 15.
• Transfer Credit: View in Student Center under Academics > more links > Transfer Credit Report.  If you have any questions submit a Review of Transfer Credit form.
• Email: check UCSC email account regularly.
• Placement Exams:
  • For Language Classes
    For Mathemathics Classes
  • For Chemistry Classes
  • For Music Classes given the beginning of fall quarter only (contact the Music adviser, Alice Szeto).

• First day of classes: ATTEND ALL of your classes or the instructor may give your space away to another student. Do not assume that you will be dropped from the class in the enrollment system. You are responsible for dropping the class in the enrollment system. Do not attend discussion sections until after the lecture or seminar meets for the first time.
• Deadlines: Know enrollment deadlines! Post the Academic Calendar by your study area.

• ID Photos: Check the University's Welcome Week Agenda for Porter student's schedule.
• Emergency Contact Information:  Update or confirm your emergency contact information.
  Personal Contact Information:  Update or confirm that the mailing address, billing address, email, cell, and telephone information is correct.
• Housing questions: Contact Joe DePage at Housing Office, A Dorm, Room 250.
• Health Insurance: For information contact Student Health Center Insurance Office at (831) 459-2389, or send an email to insure@ucsc.edu.
• Financial Aid: Be sure you have submitted all required documentation. The Financial Aid & Scholarship Office is available by email at fin_aid@ucsc.edu.
