Some programs to note: 

  • Residential Life Orientation for 1st year students, 7:30 pm each evening, Thursday 9/19 & Friday 9/20.  Attendance is required on the evening of their move in for new residential students.

    • NOTE:  This orientation is specifically for Porter College affiliated Transfers.  If you are in residence at Porter College or the Redwood Grove Apartments and affiliated with a college other than Porter:  Please check with your college advisor for your academic advising orienting.
  • Boardwalk Frolic!  The truly unique UCSC Move in tradition!
  • Cornucopia:   Your key to meeting getting involved with the many clubs and organizations at UCSC.
    • Tuesday 9/24.  2:00 pm - 7:00 pm
    • UCSC Recreation / East Field (below Cowell College)
    • NOTE:  Dining services will be serving dinner at this event - dining halls will be closed Tuesday afternoon /evening, pickup your meal ticket (w/meal plan or slug points) at any dining hall prior to Tuesday afternoon.
  • Porter One (Porter Core Course) Orientation - required for all Porter 1st year students.

  • Porter Community Welcome Drum Circle:  Find the heartbeat of the Porter Community,  no experience needed, instruments provided.
    • Wednesday 9/25, 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
    • Porter lower Quad (in front of the Porter Dining Hall)
  • First day of Classes!  -- Thursday!!!!
  • Downtown Day - If you are free Friday afternoon,  get to know downtown Santa Cruz
